Here is a rundown of Marc’s 2½ minute podcast.
In and out of lockdown, what are the opportunities for accountants?
Firstly, let’s consider demand.
Pent up demand
Covid exploded just as most year ends (March April) were approaching. There’s a lot of work yet to do.
Post lockdown war chest
The end of furlough will see costs rocket. Businesses are being offered a range of loans. They need help sorting the best way forward.
Some markets are booming
Supply chain, healthcare, food manufacture and builders in the agricultural and home office sectors. These all need the normal growth services. Interestingly Payroll is in demand from both growing and shrinking businesses.
Sadly, many businesses are in trouble
Mergers, sales, director disputes, finance. They need help.
What about supply?
Some accountants can’t cope
Our accountancy clients have taken on new tech and working practices to enable them to be more efficient, faster, effective; able to take on clients. But not all accountants are equal, some have not moved forward and just can’t cope. In some instances business owners are not getting the respect and response they deserve and need.
Are larger accountants focusing on their larger clients?
Undoubtedly, but in some cases to the detriment of their smaller clients
Fee advantage?
Do you have a fee advantage? SME’s want to hear about it. People don’t decide purely on price, but it helps them logically justify a change.
